Unpriced, Unmapped and "Unknown" Items
Quick path
- Click to select item...
- Items
The estimate grid separates two different problems: a line with no item mapped to it, and a line whose item has no usable price. Names like "Unknown Fixture" or "Unknown Receptacle" come from the AI takeoff when it couldn't tell the type of a symbol; they are group names, not a price status.
No item mapped (missing symbol or item)
The item name cell says "Click to select item..." (or "Click to select assembly..."). No catalog item is mapped, so Boon has no catalog price for it (the row can still carry an ad-hoc cost).
- Click the cell and pick an item from the catalog.
- On a takeoff row (not General Quantities), right-click and choose Add ad-hoc cost to add a cost without a catalog item.
Item mapped, but no price (missing price)
- $0.00 shown faintly: the item has no price. Hovering says "No cost set — click to add". Click and type a unit cost.
- Not priced with a warning icon: the item's price formula couldn't produce a price, so Boon left it blank rather than guess. Hover it for the reason (for example the formula needs a value the takeoff doesn't provide, the price is quoted in a different unit, or the item is marked for a vendor quote). The tooltip ends "Enter a unit cost to price this line." Type a Unit cost to fix it.
- - (dash): the line has no value for this column at all, for example a conceptual measurement row.
Incomplete totals
If any line in a group is Not priced, the group's subtotal and the estimate total show a warning icon with the number of unpriced lines; hover it for the explanation. Those lines count as $0, so the total is too low until you enter their prices.
Wrong item mapped
Right-click the row and choose Replace Item... to swap the catalog item.
